Heatwave temperatures see sunseekers head for the coast to enjoy North Tyneside's beautiful beaches
The sizzling school summer holiday weather has proved a hit with sun-seekers who have headed to the coast in their droves to enjoy the North East's amazing seafronts

A baking hot July day saw thousands of sun-seekers and families head to beaches along the North Tyneside coast.
ChronicleLive photographer Simon Greener was there to capture a beautiful day that has reminded Geordies - belatedly - that summer does sometimes come to the North East. Swimmers flocked to the cold-water Mecca that is Cullercoats Bay, while Tynemouth Longsides was equally busy.
Families were taking advantage of a hot sunny day during that kicked off the school summer holidays in earnest, while the thermometers ticket well past 20 degrees celsius.
Paddle-boarders took to the North Sea, which had taken on a delightful azure hue, while our stunning aerial photography shows the Tyneside coast at its best.
