Vera fans have hit out at ITV for issuing an 'unnecessary warning' before an old episode of the hit aired on Monday night.
A few months have now passed since it was revealed that the much loved show will be coming to an end in 2025, 14 years after it made its debut, with a pilot episode that featured a young Sam Fender as Vera's first ever murder victim. The final series of Vera will consist of just two feature length episodes, with filming coming to an end on those earlier this month.
Scenes were all over the North east, from Blyth to Glanton and Hartlepool to South Shields and, as viewers wait for a transmission date for series 14, Vera has made an unexpected return to ITV, with an old episode taking the 9pm slot on Monday. And, as well as being puzzled as to why ITV had chosen to air the fifth episode of series 11, rather than the first, there was also criticism online of the warning that was given right before the programme started.

Before opening titles rolled, an announcer told those watching at home: ""And now, containing crime scenes from the start that some people may find upsetting." Taking exception to it, particularly given that Vera was airing after the 9pm watershed rather than in its usual 8pm Sunday night slot, one critic took to X to blast: "WTF is going on @ITV so @VeraSeries is about to come on, it's 9pm. And now, containing crime scenes from the start that some people may find upsetting". Vera? Really? Get a f**king grip! Don't get me wrong, Vera is a ledge, but unclutch those pearls a Bit ITV FFS!"
In agreement, another frustrated viewer responded: "Thought the watershed was 9. Are adults really that pathetic these days that we need warnings for crime shows"
