Alison Hammond has left This Morning viewers stunned with the announcement of her temporary departure from the popular daytime show.
The beloved Brummie presenter, who has won over audiences with her dynamic partnership with co-host Dermot O'Leary, revealed the unexpected news during Thursday's live episode. Following her stint filling in for Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard, 49 year old Alison shared her plans for a well-deserved break.
Emotions ran high as Dermot broached the subject, expressing with a touch of sadness: "It's quite sad that tomorrow is going to be our last show for some time."

Alison echoed his sentiment, exclaiming: "I know, I know, my last day. I'm going on holiday bubs, it's time." She added: "Alison needs a break", which led Dermot to quip: "We all need a break.", reports the Mirror.
In a light-hearted retort, Alison said: "Even YOU need a break from me," as reported by Birmingham Live.
The announcement caused a wave of bewilderment among fans, with some uncertain about the nature of her exit. Social media was abuzz with questions like "Is Alison leaving for good? " and comments such as "It's Alison's last day on #ThisMorning before she goes on a break! ".
Later in the programme, Alison reassured viewers that she would not be away permanently, but "just for the summer."
Alison rose to fame following her appearance on Big Brother in 2002, where she was the second housemate to be evicted.
Since joining ITV's This Morning in the same year, she has become a mainstay of the show. Over the past year, she has broadened her television portfolio by becoming part of The Great British Bake Off team, and in January 2024, she was unveiled as the new host of For the Love of Dogs, succeeding the late Paul O'Grady who died in March 2023.
Her TV journey also includes appearances on I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here!, Strictly Come Dancing, Celebrity MasterChef, Celebrity Coach Trip, among others.
Earlier this month, This Morning revealed its summer presenter line-up. A blend of familiar faces from the show are set to take up the hosting reins, including Josie Gibson, Craig Doyle, Rylan Clark, Rochelle Humes and Joel Dommett.
