BBC audience watching the 2024 Paris Olympic Games broadcast were taken aback as cleaners abruptly disrupted the coverage.
On seeing this, presenter Hazel Irvine, accompanied by analyst Tonia Couch whilst discussing the diving proceedings, was quick-witted enough to make a humorous comment about the unexpected interruption. She quipped: "Can you see this behind me? Because we've got two gentlemen fixing our studio. I don't think they know they're on telly at the moment! ".
Completely unaware of their unexpected screen time, the two men continued doing their job, causing bemused viewers to take to X to share their thoughts on the unusual incident. Some playfully referred to the situation as a "new event", while others simply lambasted the unplanned distraction on the broadcasting channel.

Among the sea of comments, one spectator noted: "Live Olympic window cleaning on the BBC! " Another one observed: "Window cleaners have just turned up on the BBC coverage."
A third remarked: "Just a casual bit of window cleaning in the middle of the BBC coverage.", reports the Mirror.
Another user pointed out: "The rain is still TIPPING down in Paris. And now the BBC have had to get the window cleaners in whilst they're on air."
Finally, making light of the scenario, another viewer jested: "I didn't know window cleaning now qualified as an Olympic sport."
The interruption occurred after viewers criticised BBC producers for their decision to use a green screen as a backdrop during an earlier chat. The segment featured presenter Jeanette Kwakye, JJ Chalmers and Fred Sirieix as they began the day's coverage.
As the discussion commenced in the studio, a CGI backdrop depicting a city courtyard was soon used as the setting for their conversation. Viewers were perplexed by this choice, criticising it given that the production team is currently located in one of the world's most renowned cities, with a studio positioned in front of the iconic Eiffel Tower.
One viewer expressed their disapproval on X, writing: "This green screen stuff is horrific. Stop it. You've got a studio in Paris looking at the Eiffel Tower ffs."
