Big smiles on a Bigg Night Out in Newcastle 14 years ago in 2010
See 10 images of groups of friends and family enjoying themselves on nights out in Newcastle in July 2010
Summer is all about having fun and city scenes of people out on the town appear little different today than they were years ago - aside from changing fashions but even then these tend to repeat themselves too.
Here we revisit July 2010 in photographs taken on various big nights out that month by our Chronicle staff for our weekly Bigg Night Out series which ran from 1992 until 2012. And these 10 scenes, taken in and around the city's Bigg Market area, show people full of smiles and looking like they are having a great time, which is always lovely to see.
Here's hoping the images bring back some happy memories for anyone who recognises friends or families in them. Maybe you will spot yourself!

For others, they might just be a reminder of their own big nights out in town which they enjoyed over the years. Music often helps jog those memories and, to help set the context for these 2010 scenes, a flashback to the charts shows that number one hits in the July of that year were California Gurls by Katy Perry, also featuring Snoop Dog; The Club Is Alive by JLS; Airplanes by American rapper B.o.B and - at the end of the month, when some of these pictures were taken - We No Speak Americano by Australian duo Yolanda Be Cool.
Big album successes that year included Eminem's Recovery and Kylie Minogue's Aphrodite, which had both come out at the end of the previous month. Top films in the cinemas that July were a real mixed bag: Shrek Forever After; The Twilight Saga: Eclipse and Inception.
And the end of the month saw the beginning of the end too for a Gateshead landmark, with demolition beginning on July 26 on the demolition of the town centre's 'Get Carter' car park.
