Byker
Byker is an inner city area in Newcastle upon Tyne which was built close to industry on the riverside. It was a Victorian working-class area of densely built terraces and slums until the 1960s when the council redeveloped the area. It is famous for the Byker Wall estate and for being the setting of the BBC children's TV series Byker Grove.
