Clare Balding admitted to 'shouting' in the Olympics studio on Tuesday night, as emotions ran high for Team GB in the swimming.
Having been at the helm for BBC coverage of the opening ceremony in Paris on Friday night, respected broadcaster Clare has been on screen for all of the big action every night from the 2024 Games, as medals have been won in the pool at the Aquatics Centre.
After Ireland's Daniel Wiffen made history in the 800m freestyle, all eyes were on the Team GB quarter of James Guy, Matt Richards, Tom Dean and Duncan Scott as they bid to retain their title from Tokyo in the 200m freestyle relay. Despite competition from USA and Australia, the team were the big favourites to triumph in the race, which went off around 9.15pm UK time.

And they lived up to expectations with James, Matt and Tom all completing their legs in around 1 minute 45 seconds, before Duncan brought things home in a fantastic 1.minute 39.
As soon as Duncan touched the wall to clinch victory, his three teammates began to celebrate poolside and there was also a lot of excitement on the BBC set, where Clare was joined by former Olympic swimmers Rebecca Adlington and Mark Foster. Two time gold medallist Rebecca was first to speak, saying her hands were hurting from clapping too much, before Clare responded: "We did a lot of shouting' not that they can hear us, but we did a lot of shouting and a lot of clapping!"
Giving her verdict on Team GB's brilliant swim, the host added: "It was a stunning race and it was so well executed." Clare was also delighted to tell viewers at home that, at the same time, Duncan Scott was bringing it home in the pool, Andy Murray and doubles partner Dan Evans, had advanced through to the quarter finals of the tennis, having successfully saved two match points.
