Hazel Irvine was forced to fire a 'earning;' to viewers at home, after live coverage of the Olympics was disrupted on Monday.
Having been in the commentary box alongside Andrew Cotter for Friday's opening ceremony on Paris 2024, broadcaster Hazel was the lead presenter for the BBC's Olympics programming on Monday afternoon, as events like gymnastics, mountain biking and the canoe slalom took centre stage.
Team GB featured in the men' team gymnastics final, as Matt Baker and his colleagues provided the commentary. However, complaints quickly flooded in from fans trying to follow the competition at home, when, firstly, the BBC failed to show former Olympic champion Max Whitlock's routine on the pommel horse and then cut away to the canoe slalom after just one rotation of the final.
Many viewers hoping to see all of Team GB's gymnasts in action were left disappointed as vaults from the likes of Harry Hepworth and Max Whitlock's high bars routine also failed to area, before coverage then ground to a halt, as something went wrong with the feed from Paris.

As she was joined by ex Olympian Beth Tweddle in the BBC studio, Hazel apologised for the glitch in the footage, before then 'warning' viewers that, having already had to switch channels once to keep following the gymnastics, they'd have to change back from BBC2 to BBC1 to watch the culmination of the final, as Team GB's hopes of a medal began to slip away.
Viewers were quick to condemn the BBC's coverage of the men's team final online, with one critic taking to X to blast: "Whilst I realise the BBC has no control of what's being shown on the gymnastics live feed, we've hardly seen any of #TeamGB in the Men's team event. Shockingly poor coverage of #TeamGB hope it's not the same for the women's team."
A second fumed: "I’m watching the Olympics on the bbc in Britain, the gymnastics right now and I’m not seeing team GB at all WTF is going on why can’t I see my own team do their routines, what a crock of garbage this bbc coverage is for us brits, Paris 2024 what a load of s**t" as another wrote: "I know the BBC aren’t controlling the cameras but the live coverage of the gymnastics is poor! Everytime team GB steps up they switch to another apparatus!"
