Jade Thirlwall has revealed it was the success of another North East star, Cheryl, that gave her the 'confidence boost' to go solo, as she continues to cause quite a stir with her debut single Angel of My Dreams.
The last of the Little Mix girls to go it alone, Jade followed in the footsteps of Leigh-Anne Pinnock and fellow South Shields singer Perrie Edwards, by releasing a solo track last week, with Angel of My Dreams' title being projected onto the Angel of the North in Gateshead, as the song was released to streaming platforms worldwide.
Within hours, Jade's single had climbed as high as number 2 on iTunes, with some fans championing it as 'the song of the year'. And now, in an interview with MTV, Jade has spoken out on just how much she was inspired by Cheryl's solo career, which saw the Girls Aloud star have five number 1 hits, including million selling debut Fight For This Love.

When asked which song gave her the 'confidence to go solo,' Jade replied: "Fight For This Love by Cheryl Cole, 'cos if that Geordie hun can do it, then so can I." She added: "I'm obsessed with Cheryl and, again, that was a great first single off the back of a group. So yep, she's my Northern inspiration."
While the video for Angel of My Dreams was filmed in London, Jade made sure that a South Tyneside feel was brought to the shoot, with her donning a South Shields FC scarf and eating from a box of Colmans fish and chips, in one of the opening scenes.
