Metro services have remained suspended on a section of the network today following damage to the overhead line.
No Metro trains have been operating between South Gosforth and Shiremoor since 6am this morning due to damage in the Longbenton area. Teams have been working throughout the day to resolve the issue, however, it is expected that the Metro service will remain suspended until this evening.
Passengers wishing to travel in this area can board the number 900 bus replacement service.
Tyne and Wear Metro will be providing updates on their X (formally Twitter) account or the Nexus website.
A Nexus spokesperson said: "We've had a service suspension due to overhead line damage between South Gosforth and Shiremoor section on the Metro line, which has been ongoing since 6am. We have teams in the area carrying out an inspection of the overhead line.
"A bus replacement service is operating in the effected area. We do not expect service to resume in the effected area until this evening. Passengers can keep up to date via social media or the Nexus website."
