Newcastle University
Established as a School of Medicine and Surgery in 1834, Newcastle University has one of the UK’s largest research portfolios. The main campus is located to the north west of the city centre. It has many notable alumni, including journalist Kate Adie, actor Rowan Atkinson and politician Mo Mowlam. Dr Martin Luther King Jr received an honorary Doctor of Civil Law degree from the University in 1967.
