North East Local Lockdown
A set of local lockdown restrictions came into force in the North East on Friday, September 18, 2020. Measures introduced to Newcastle, Gateshead, North and South Tyneside, County Durham, Northumberland and Sunderland included a ban on socialising outside households and a 10pm curfew on pubs, restaurants and licensed premises. On November 26, 2020, the North East was placed under the then-toughest Tier 3 restrictions after the national lockdown on December 2. The region then moved into the Tier 4 toughest level of restrictions in January 2021 ahead of the new national lockdown coming into force.
