Westerhope

Westerhope, in the north-west of Newcastle, boomed in the 1800s with the discovery of coal reserves. It became part of the city of Newcastle in 1973. Developed in the 1950s, Newbiggin Hall includes a large concentration of council-owned properties, and some private developments. Both are close to the A1 and A69, with good bus links into Newcastle.
