Police officers have issued an appeal after a burglary at a post office in South Tyneside.
Shortly before 6.45am on Monday, June 3, there was a break-in at Whitburn Post Office on East Street. It was reported that an offender forced entry to the property, causing damage to the front door.
He then took cigarettes and money from inside, before fleeing the scene on foot. As part of their investigation, police have now identified a man they would like to speak to in connection with the burglary.

He was seen in the area at the time of the offence and police believe he could have "valuable" information to assist with their enquiries. A spokesperson for Northumbria Police said: "We recognise the image of the man is not the clearest, but officers are encouraging anyone who can help to come forward."
Northumbria Police encouraged the man, or anyone who recognises him, to contact police by visiting the live chat on Northumbria Police's website, sending a direct message on social media, calling 101 or by completing a crime update form quoting crime number 064993M/24.
